Message From the President: Announcing the 2018-19 Board of Directors
Wednesday, December 20, 2017
It’s my honor as president of the ARMA board to announce the new constituents of the 2018-2019 ARMA Board of Directors.
This is not a typical year for our elections; the candidates for the roles of president-elect, director, and treasurer have been elected by acclamation, and no membership voting will take place. The call for nominations was released and promoted in September and was open for six weeks. Several of the candidates that initially submitted their applications withdrew their submissions, and only one candidate was left in each of the open director roles. However, we are extremely fortunate that the remaining candidates are highly qualified for the respective open positions. These candidates officially take their positions on July 1 when the Board’s term officially begins.
Below, you can see how each person’s expertise will immediately benefit ARMA International. The organization is in good hands with the addition of these members.
I also want to thank the Election Management Task Force (EMTF) for its work to make ARMA a strong organization while moving forward in an impartial manner. The chair, as designated by our governing documents, is Immediate Past President Tera Ladner, and the distinguished EMTF members are Patrick Cunningham, Peter Kurilecz, Tyrene Bada, and Mark Chardack.
The board helps shape the future of the organization. The industry faces many challenges, but it holds even more opportunities. The continued support of our members, combined with the leadership of the ARMA board, will help shape our future plans and success as an association.
Our new president-elect is Bill Bradford. Bradford, currently a region director of ARMA’s Rocky Mountain and Midwest region, is a sales executive for Access Information. In the late 1980s, Bradford began his career in the legal field and was quickly incorporated into working with legal records retention programs. After more than 20 years working as a practitioner, he transitioned to the business-partner side, where he uses his experience to identify solutions that enable organizations to better manage their information.
An active member and former membership director and president of the Mile High Denver chapter, he looks forward to serving on ARMA International’s board. Bradford will bring his passion for the organization, and more so for our members and local leaders, as he advocates for our profession. He believes that everything ARMA does should be about the members and the value they receive from ARMA.
Our new director to the ARMA board is Michelle Kirk, CRM, IGP, CIP, ERMm. Kirk has more than 20 years of experience in RIM, IG, and document management. She is the director of information governance and the chief privacy officer for Georgia-Pacific LLC, in Atlanta. With experience in the public sector and in the energy and financial verticals, she will add a welcome perspective to the board. Kirk is a frequent speaker on RIM and IG topics. She is the chapter advisor for the Southeast region and was previously a board member for the Atlanta chapter.
Serving another term as treasurer is Michael Haley. Haley’s business and financial acumen has helped ARMA navigate its challenges in the last two years and position the organization for future growth. He routinely provides financial advice and suggests practical approaches to solving the complex problems the association faces. Haley is director of records management at Radian Group, Inc. Earlier, he was a senior consultant with Cohasset Associates for 10 years, and he developed and led an enterprise-wide RIM program for Prudential Insurance. He has served at the local chapter level as a board member of the Liberty Bell chapter.
The complete list of the current ARMA International Board of Directors is available on the website.
Thank you again to our new board members for your dedication and willingness to serve in office, and my thanks to our members for all of your participation and continued commitment to ARMA. Please remember to be active participants in your local chapters and to run for your local offices – and do consider running for the ARMA International Board of Directors in the future.
