Fair and free elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, so it’s no surprise how much preparation is needed before and after each election to ensure records are properly protected and preserved. Voters are given the constitutional right to elect representatives of their choosing, from the Office of President all the way down to the local Council, School, or Library Board. Clerks across the nation, whether at the state, county or local level, are tasked with preserving the integrity of the electoral process and safeguarding the “will of the people” – and it is not a job they take lightly!
