Data mapping has been considered an IT domain for many years. While the name suggest data, it is really about mapping, qualifying, and quantifying information inputs and outputs to an organization. For RIM professionals, data mapping is a powerful tool to understand the creation point of a record. The information gathered allows for the application of retention, disposition, and information handling functions to be applied to business functions. This allows for the development of the tools needed for system integration or automation of recordkeeping standards. When done the right way, RIM professional unlock their importance in managing an organization information assets and become Information Superheroes!
