Alpine County California was created by an act of the Legislature on March 16, 1864, from parts of four of the surrounding counties: Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, and Mono.  The complex task of organizing over one hundred and twenty years of Alpine County records into a functioning archives was accomplished by Archivist Dr. Inez Dillon Prinster in 1987. Today there are over 30 thousand documents stored in Laserfiche and the work continues. The tour will include a review of Laserfiche and our Records Management workflow, a visit to our historic Courthouse, a tour of Interim Storage (located in the old jail cells) and end with our recently remodeled Archives Building.
