    From the President: June 2016

    Jun 16, 2016

Welcome to the June edition of InfoPro and my final message to you in this space as ARMA International’s president. What a year it has been! Your board of directors and headquarters staff have endlessly discussed new strategies to improve your membership experience, and based on those discussions, we have, among many other things:

    • Hired a CEO, Bob Baird, IGP, CRM, PMP
    • Selected a new outside director for the board of directors, Mark Levin, CAE, CSE
    • Increased our professional advocacy footprint through:
      • Sending comment letters to government agencies, including one supporting the California Digital Records and Archiving legislation
      • Hosting a U.S. congressional reception honoring Rep. Elijah Cummings and Senator Tom Tillis ( a former member of ARMA international)
      • Briefing staff from the U.S. Senate Judiciary and the Senate Homeland Security & Government Affairs committees on the importance of best practices in records management and information governance
    • Improved our chapter awards options and process
    • Revamped the strategic planning process to better suit the needs of the membership
    • Launched iNDEPTH, a members-only e-newsletter with links to free resources
    • Made all job aids and over 200 hours of webinars free to our professional members

We’ve accomplished many goals as an association – and I’ve learned so much along the way and enjoyed every second of serving as your president. Your incoming president, Tera Ladner, J.D., IGP, CRM, will take the baton and keep running. She has many great ideas to keep up our momentum and take us to the next level. I wish you well in your new presidential role, Tera.

I would also like to extend well wishes and congratulations to Connie Hardy, director of administration and Board secretary for ARMA International, who is retiring at the end of June after 14 years of dedicated service. I’ve worked with her for many years and wish her the best.

As a member of ARMA International for over 30 years, I can truly say we have some of the best and brightest people around. You all will accomplish great things in your careers, and I’m eager to see what else is yet to come. Thanks again for all of your contributions, comments, conversations, and leadership throughout this past year. It’s been an unforgettable experience.

    See you around!

    Peter Kurilecz, IGP, CRM, CA
