About the RIM Core Competencies
The RIM Core Competencies define those skills needed by RIM professionals. ARMA International developed the competencies to give organizations and individuals insight into the skills needed to successfully manage records and information. They are organized by level and domain. Levels reflect the amount of knowledge or experience a person has relevant to a specific topic or skill set regardless of time spent in the profession. Domains are categories of competencies in a particular performance area that are the major responsibilities or duties that make up the profession.
Within each domain are task statements that identify the knowledge and skills required to perform the task competently. At an organizational level, the competencies are designed to provide the guidance managers and human resources professionals need to craft position descriptions for new or existing RIM positions.
