If you thought the demand globally for smartphones was declining, think again. According to a cnet.com article, the program director with research firm IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker said global smartphone shipments are continuing to see “record-setting volumes.” During the third quarter of 2014, they topped 300 million, a 25% increase over third quarter 2013.
As the use of mobile devices has continued to grow in general, so does their use for work. According to a telecompetitor.com article, a 2013 IDG Global Solutions study found that 41% of respondents use their personal smartphone for business. This continues to present challenges to organizations with respect to e-discovery and data security.
