Mark Zuckerberg’s Personal Photos Hacked from Facebook

December 20, 2011

According to Canada.com, a hacker recently got into Mark Zuckerberg’s personal Facebook page and publicized the Facebook founder’s protected personal photos.

Canada.com reported that Zuckerberg’s hacked photos, which were everyday-type pictures, were posted on a website called imgur.com under a post titled “It’s time to fix those security flaws facebook…”

Forbes.com reported that the hacker discovered he could access private photos through a mechanism the site provides to report inappropriate photos featuring nudity or pornography. After falsely accusing a fellow user of posting an XXX profile photo, the hacker was given the option by Facebook to, “Help us take action by selecting additional photos to include with your report.” Then, Facebook gave the hacker a selection of that user’s other photos.

According to Forbes.com, a Facebook spokesperson confirmed it has temporarily fixed the problem.

“The bug allowed anyone to view a limited number of another user’s most recently uploaded photos irrespective of the privacy settings for these photos,” stated the spokesperson. “This was the result of one of our recent code pushes and was live for a limited period of time. Upon discovering the bug, we immediately disabled the system, and will only return functionality once we can confirm the bug has been fixed.”
