How’s your paycheck these days? As the economy rebounds from the challenging times of yesterday, are you where you want to be? We’ve been listening to you – and the results can be found in our 2010 Salary and Compensation Survey results.
How’s your paycheck these days? As the economy rebounds from the challenging times of yesterday, are you where you want to be? We’ve been listening to you – and the results can be found in our 2010 Salary and Compensation Survey results.
According to the report, pay (69 percent) and benefits (62 percent) are the two most important factors for job satisfaction, with professional challenge (50 percent) and financial stability of the company (47 percent) rounding out the most frequently chosen responses.
Another finding of note, 31% of respondents had been involved in records and information management for 20 years or more, while only 16% had been involved for four years or less. These statistics imply that slightly more than half of individuals surveyed are mid-career records and information professionals; slightly less than half of the respondents are in the early stages of career development.
The topic of information technology training ranked high on the list of needs by more than half of all respondents. Project management was chosen by slightly less than half. This data reflects the increasing complexity of the electronic systems, services, and technologies used in today’s business environments. Having said that, I think it’s in my job description to remind you about the importance of the education you receive at the 55th Annual Conference & Expo in San Francisco. If you want training, we’ve got it!
But it isn’t just about the very thinly veiled sales pitch for Conference. As a member, you have access to a valuable free tool – ARMA International’s RIM Self-Assessment. Regardless of what stage you’re at in your career, this online tool will help you identify strengths and gaps in your skills and knowledge. It will even point you to resources that can help address those gaps.
As an ARMA International member, you understand the value of ongoing education. Take the reins of your career firmly in hand and make sure your paycheck makes you smile!
