Surveys Find E-Discovery an IT Core CompetencyCompanies are finding that information technology expertise is as important as legal analysis when it comes to e-discovery. A Kroll Ontrack survey of 231 U.S. IT and legal professionals found that 35% of them believe IT and in-house counsel have dual responsibility for developing and implementing discovery strategies. In addition, 20% of respondents believe that chief information officers and the IT organization should be the primary owners of the e-discovery process. The findings are in contrast to those of three years ago, when most respondents believed e-discovery belonged entirely to the law department. Meanwhile, a survey of approximately 100 of the Fortune 2000 found that 48% will bring e-discovery in-house to try to contain e-discovery costs.ARMA International IMN, December |
