ARMA International Releases IGBOK: The Foundation
Monday, February 26, 2018
The first 4-chapter component of the association’s much-anticipated Information Governance Body of Knowledge (IGBOK) is now available for FREE to professional members.
In late fall of 2016, ARMA International began work on the Information Governance Body of Knowledge (IGBOK), a guide to the generally recognized best practices for managing and governing the full life cycle of information.
Eighteen information management and information governance experts and volunteers with 525 cumulative years of experience have thus far collaborated on all aspects of the body of knowledge, including story mapping, outlining, writing, and editing. And now the first installment, IGBOK: The Foundation, is available for free to ARMA International professional members.
IGBOK: The Foundation consists of the first four chapters of the full publication, providing valuable context for:
• Communicating about what information governance (IG) is
• Positioning information management (IM) as the foundation of IG
• Explaining the relationships among the IG stakeholders
• Explaining the business case for IG
“IGBOK, when the full body of work is completed and released this spring, will give greater authority to the IM/IG professions and those who practice in these areas. What’s more, it will define information management and governance concepts from beginning to end of the information life cycle – something that has not existed up to this point. We truly feel this body of work will underscore the importance of organizations implementing an IG program,” says Jocelyn Gunter, CEO of ARMA.
The full IGBOK is expected to be released this spring. ARMA plans to make it available to professional members for $75, and to others for $105.
