General ARMA

What does ARMA stand for?

Originally, ARMA was the acronym for the Association of Records Managers and Administrators. Over the past several years, however, we have seen a broadening of the profession as records management has become a recognized and integral part of information management which is key to doing business. To reflect the changing environment and this "expansion" of the profession, about four years ago the association's Board of Directors decided to discontinue using ARMA as an acronym and adopted "ARMA International" as a general descriptor of the association.

Where can I find out more about ARMA's purpose and mission?

General information about ARMA can be found by clicking "About Us" on the top navigation, or by going to http://www.arma.org/about/overview/index.cfm.

How do I advertise on the ARMA website or in ARMA publications?

Find out more about advertising opportunities by clicking "Advertisers" in the "Information For" box on the left side of the page, or by going to http://www.arma.org/advertising/.

How do I find contact information for ARMA?

Go to "Customer Service" on the top navigation or go to http://www.arma.org/contact/. There you can find ARMA's address, phone, fax, e-mail, and links to ARMA's directories for staff, the Board of Directors, Region Managers/Coordinators, Chapters, Ambassadors, and Committees.

Where do I update my information?

You can make changes under My ARMA. There you can update your personal information, your password, subscribe to e-mail newsletters, set preferences for e-mail communication, and view your membership information if you are a member of ARMA.

What is the best browser for viewing the ARMA website?

Visitors to the ARMA website will have the best experience when using Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 5.5 and above. Although visitors using older or different browsers will be able to access content contained on the site, many features of the site take advantage of new technologies only accessible with the latest version of Internet Explorer. You can upgrade or download Internet Explorer for free at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx.

I'm experiencing errors on the ARMA website when I go to certain pages or try to complete transactions. Why? What should I do?

The ARMA website uses cookies and javascript extensively. It's necessary that you have cookies and javascript enabled on your browser to use the ARMA website. If your cookies and javascript are enabled and you are still experiencing errors, contact the Webmaster.

Some files on the ARMA website are PDF files. What do I need to access these files?

PDF files require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download the free Acrobat Reader product at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

Does ARMA have a privacy statement explaining how information collected by the site is used?

How do I find what I'm looking for on the ARMA website?

The best way to find exactly what you are looking for is to use the "Search" feature. Locate the text field on the top navigation bar to the right of "Help" and next to the red "Search" button. Enter a word or phrase and click the red "Search" button. Or you can go to http://www.arma.org/search.cfm to perform a search.

ARMA Shopping

How do I purchase products or memberships on the ARMA website?

Bookstore Products:
  1. Search for the product you wish to purchase.
  2. View the product's information.
  3. Click "Add to Cart" to add the product to your ARMA shopping cart.
  4. When you are ready to checkout, click "View Cart" or "Checkout" under "My Shopping Cart" at right.
  5. Log in with your e-mail address and password.
  6. Complete the checkout process.
Memberships:
  1. Go to the online application.
  2. Select your desired membership.
  3. Click "Add to Cart" to add the membership to your ARMA shopping cart.
  4. When you are ready to checkout, click "View Cart" or "Checkout" under "My Shopping Cart" at right.
  5. Log in with your e-mail address and password.
  6. Complete the checkout process.

How do I register for web seminars or online courses on the ARMA website?

  1. Click "Add to Cart" on the web seminar or online course information page to add the seminar or course to your ARMA shopping cart.
  2. When you are ready to checkout, click "View Cart" or "Checkout" under "My Shopping Cart" at right.
  3. Log in with your e-mail address and password.
  4. Complete the checkout process.

What shipping options are available for my Bookstore purchase?

ARMA International uses UPS for domestic shipments (including Alaska and Hawaii) and UPS and the U.S. Postal Service for international shipments. The options these services can accomodate for your purchase and location are displayed when you complete your purchase. If you wish to use another option not displayed, contact the Customer Service Center at 888.241.0598 or bookstore@arma.org to complete your purchase.

Can I use express shipping for my Bookstore purchase?

Yes. Express orders must be placed before 11 a.m. Eastern time (U.S.) for same-day shipment. Express shipping is available Monday-Friday only. NOTE: Express shipping is not available on U.S. federal holidays or December 24 and December 31.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. International shipping is available to any country that accepts UPS or U.S. Postal Service shipments. International shipments may need a Customs Declaration form and may be subject to mailing restrictions, duties, taxes, or customs fees unique to the destination country. ARMA International has no control over these fees, which can be substantial. Check http://pe.usps.gov for more information.

What credit cards can I use to purchase items or registrations on the ARMA website?

ARMA International accepts Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Discover for online transactions.

Can I use a check or purchase order for an online purchase or registration?

No. ARMA International only accepts credit cards for online purchases. To purchase a membership, online course, or conference registration using a check or purchase order, contact ARMA International at 800.422.2762. To purchase a bookstore product, contact the fulfillment center at 888.241.0598 or bookstore@arma.org.

I have a code that will give me a special price for an item purchased online. How do I use that?

Add the items you wish to purchase to your cart as you would normally and begin the checkout process. On the "Review Order" screen, enter your promotion code into the relevant field and click "Apply." Your special price will be displayed for the appropriate item. If you have more than one code, enter them separately, clicking "Apply" after each one.

Why am I being charged sales tax?

ARMA International is required by law to charge sales tax for certain items purchased online and shipped to the state of Kansas.

I need to return or exchange an item I purchased online. What do I do?

As noted in the bookstore terms and conditions that you agreed to before completing your online purchase, all sales are final.

I ordered an item online quite a while ago and it was never delivered. What do I do?

Contact the Customer Service Center at 888.241.0598 or bookstore@arma.org to locate your shipment.

How do I get a receipt for my purchase?

Go to My ARMA and select Order/Registration Receipts under My Orders/Registrations.

I registered for a web seminar/online course. How do I access that seminar/course?

Go to My ARMA and select Web Seminar Registrations or Online Course Registrations under My Orders/Registrations.

ARMA Membership

What does it cost to join ARMA?

ARMA membership is $175 for regular membership, and $25 for a student or retired membership. Additional chapter dues may apply.

Where can I find my member ID or the date I joined ARMA?

You can find this under My ARMA. Choose "Membership Information." There you can view all information related to your ARMA membership and renew your membership online.

Why can I update my last name but not my first name?

ARMA members can update their last name in the event that their marital status has changed or their last name was inadvertently misspelled during ARMA's data entry process. ARMA's memberships and member numbers belong to individual members regardless of who pays for the membership -- the company or the member. To prevent companies from changing names on a member number, ARMA members can only change the last name on their member profile. You can change your first name by contacting ARMA International by phone or e-mail. See "Can companies join ARMA?" for more information.

Can companies join ARMA?

ARMA's memberships and member numbers belong to individual members regardless of who pays for the membership. In the event that an ARMA member has left an organization and the company wishes to redesignate the membership to his or her replacement, ARMA International allows both the previous member and the new employee to hold the same membership for the remainder of the year. Pleae contact ARMA Member Services to redesignate a new employee.

Logging In

Why am I being asked to log in?

Logging in is required to purchase items or register for web seminars or online courses.

How do I log in?

ARMA Members: You may enter your e-mail address OR your ARMA member ID along with your password to log in. If you don't remember your password, you may retrieve it via e-mail.

Nonmembers: If you purchased a product online or registered for an online course or web seminar in the past you chose a password upon checkout or registration. Enter that in the log in form with the e-mail address you used when checking out/registering. If you don't remember your password, you may retrieve it via e-mail.

I'm a nonmember and can't remember if I have set up an ARMA password before. What do I do?

You may either try logging in anyway, or attempt to retrieve your password via e-mail. If you try logging in and your record is not found, the site will tell you. You may set up a new ARMA account at that time.

I can't remember my password. What do I do?

You may retrieve your password via e-mail. Your password will be sent to the e-mail address contained in your ARMA contact record.

I'm an ARMA member and this is the first time I've logged in to the ARMA website -- I don't have a password. What do I do?

You may retrieve your password via e-mail. Your password will be sent to the e-mail address contained in your ARMA contact record. Use the password sent to you and your e-mail address to log in.

Where can I change my password?

You may change your password under My ARMA. Choose "Account Preferences," enter your new password, and click "Submit Changes."
