Title: "Solving the Mysteries of Blockchain Technology"

Facilitators: John J. Isaza, Esq., and Q. Scott Kaye

When: March 21 at 1 p.m. Central time (2 p.m. Eastern)

In this presentation, the audience will explore the basics of blockchain technology, coupled with the specific implications for records and information governance professionals. Specifically, the attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the basics of blockchain technology, including how and whether blockchain is a reliable way of confirming the integrity of the transaction
  • Describe the various components of blockchain technology, including the electronic ledger (register), authentication through a “distributed” or “shared” network of participants, and a shared group protocol
  • Identify existing blockchain use cases, such as virtual currency
  • Understand the costs and challenges associated with the use of blockchain technology for recordkeeping purposes.

The session is FREE to professional members; $35 for everyone else. The session will be available on-demand for all participants until March 21, 2019. Isaza has developed IG and retention programs for many highly regulated Global 1000 companies. He is co-author of 7 Steps for Legal Holds of ESI & Other Documents, a contributing author to the ABA’s Internet Law for the Business Lawyer, 2nd Edition, as well as editor-in-chief, and co-author of the recently released Handbook on Global Social Media Law for Business Lawyers.


Q. Scott Kaye is also a partner at Rimon, where he advises clients on complex issues in the areas of restructuring, M&A, technology, software, debt financing, and more. With a deep and intuitive understanding of technology and the complexities unique to technology and software sector, as a member of the firm’s FinTech, Cryptocurrencies, and Blockchain practice, he has advised clients on Initial Coin Offerings (ICO), best-case usages for tokenization of services, structuring peer-to-peer cryptocurrency lending, and cryptocurrency asset backed platforms.
